Artful Bag

Frosted Petunias Artful Bag Challenge for the month of March was Embellish.   I started with a plain little green bag. Cute, but not Special. The oriental pin has been laying in my bead re-do pile for years. I added more beads and made another hangey down bead thingey that attaches to the strap. It will probably drive me insane the first time I use it, but looks cool just for the sake of ART.

This is a up close look at the handmade pin and my ho hum attempt at beading.  To see all the bags that got a face lift this month, check out http://frostedpetunias.blogspot.com/2011/03/march-artful-bag.html

Sunday Postcard "White"

The challenge this week at "Sunday Postcard" was WHITE! Think you can't be inspired by White, well think again. My mind drifted back to my childhood playing Clue, much more fun than Monopoly cause you didn't have to worry about been a land tycoon or handling money and always landing on Boardwalk with those nasty hotels. Oh well... anyway, Mrs. White just kind of jumped out from the shadows and here she is, holding the candlestick. Too bad, she's been busted. Hop on over to http://sundaypostcardart.wordpress.com/ and see what other cool stuff has been created with White! Thanks for dropping by!

Take A Word " Architecture"

This week at "Take A Word" the challenge was architecture. The challenge was posted last Sunday and I've been on again off again with this theme. I poked around my usual FREE image sites and finally found something to In...spire me. Get it spires... Inspire. And, since I'm on this whole paper doll kind of thing, it went together like a charm. To see all the other cool art created this month, here's the link http://takeaword.blogspot.com/

Three Muses "Land of Odd"

This week the challenge at Three Muses was " Land of Odd.  I'm not sure how odd my crossword puzzle mermaid is. As usual, I allowed my creative muse to take over and all went well. When you're inspired, it's easy, such was the case with this little treasure. You can see all the challenge pictures at

Friday Foto/Journal Prompt

Writing about the things we Love is a snap.

Writing about the things we Hate is a snap.

The grey areas of life are the one's that keep eluding us, leaving us sometimes empty and unsure of ourselves and our place in the world. Perhaps I should really tax myself and do a Grey Area Page. Maybe another day, my brain is entirely too befuddled right now.

This is a two-fer, fotocollage challenge and journal prompt too!! The image of the little girl came from  http://fridayfotocollage.blogspot.com/ , the picture below was our challenge; I altered the image and made the journal page on the top.  Our Journal prompt last month was "What do I Love:, you can see every one's pages at  http://www.flickr.com/groups/1570781@N20/.

I used transparency film to  make the three small Fleur de lis in the upper left of my Journal Page.  Amy at "Butterscape"  has been tantalizing us with transfers and other creative topics, so the transfer thing has been heavy on my mind.   A few years back I did transfers, but have since lost (well... misplaced... its around here someplace) the film. On a thrift store trek yesterday, what did I stumble upon? 100 sheets of transparency sheets for a whole whopping $2.99. I was really pissed when they wouldn't give me my senior discount, alas old farts discount is on Tuesday. Let me get my math correct here, I paid  30cents a sheet!  It might not be as good as Lazertan, but it's working for this old girl. Moral to this story, check out Amy's blog http://butterscape.blogspot.com/ and don't leave a stone unturned on your thrift store visits.

Journal Prompt " I Believe"

Roc at http://www.whatsuproc.blogspot.com/ has a great journaling monthly prompt going on this year. She started it in Janurary, but I just joined. The March prompt is " I believe".  Easy enough, right? NOT.  After I finshed the art of the page, I just started writing, Wow... It brought to mind, how very important it is for me to be True to Myself.  http://www.flickr.com/groups/1570781@N20/   Check out her flicker group, you'll see some fantastic and creative pages.

Friday Foto

Friday Foto Collage  challenged us this week with "Umbrellas", all shapes and sizes. This was a fun challenge!  My "little dancing umbrella  girl" is a bit stuff, I think she needs to be set free, perhaps placed on a more artful background with some squiggles and such. If she gets a makeover, I'll post so 'yall can see her new look. All in all it was a fun challenge, thanks to Peggy over at Friday Foto.

Take a Word "Green "

Take a Word always have a fun challenge.   I just couldn't make myself do a St. Patrick's Day theme. I'm not sure where green and pink go on the color friends chart, but I've always loved these two colors together. My bedroom in 7th grade was pink and green, my brother helped me decorate it and it was fab! Yes... 1963, oh, those were the days. Anyway, back to this little Green Peace (pun), I had lots of fun making the composition work. Not a piece of art by any means, but none the less, 'twas fun.

Soartful Challenge

When Jeanette at Soartful Challenges posted the photo of these three gals, I knew it would be a blast. As usual, I over thought the whole thing and almost lost it! One side of my brain said, dress them all up in a frilly dress, the other side said NO!!!! So.. guess what happened? NO FRILLS!!!
Here is the challenge picture I started with:

Three Muses " Spring"

I'm glad I don't have allergies. "Fall in love with spring again?" The gal in this piece is really tired of helping her pal with the tissues. At this point, I'm not sure if she's willing to Fall In Love Again? Hum... is that money he's giving here?

Gothic Arch Challenge

How fun to be makin' stuff again. I really missed the "Goth Arch Challenges", there's just something unique about the arch shape.http://gothicarches.blogspot.com/

I must admit, the valentine, heart theme wasn't my favorite, but what the hey! I still had fun. Vending in Quartzsite is almost over, Ken and finished our share of tearing down the Big Purple building. Whew! Over Presidents Day weekend, we'll visit with our RV pals at "The Steps" and try to take in at least one night of the Huge Fireworks Show and of coarse, the big birthday bash on Saturday. Life is good!

"Take a Word" Blackbird

What fun I've had cuttin' and pastin' and scribbling with pastel sticks. I was raised in the 60's so The Beatles were a big part of my life, dahhhhhhhhhhh the "Blackbird" theme really sang to me. The research lead me to the real meaning of the song... Paul McCartney wrote this about the civil rights struggle for blacks after reading about race riots in the US. He penned it in his kitchen in Scotland not long after Little Rock, when the federal courts forced the racial desegregation of the Arkansas capital's school system. McCartney told Mojo magazine October 2008: "We were totally immersed in the whole saga which was unfolding. So I got the idea of using a blackbird as a symbol for a black person. It wasn't necessarily a black 'bird', but it works that way, as much as then you called girls 'birds'; the Everlys had had Bird Dog, so the word 'bird' was around. 'Take these broken wings' was very much in my mind, but it wasn't exactly an ornithological ditty; it was purposely symbolic."

Blackbird singing in the dead of night

I'm on a creative binge! Yahoooo. Being a creative person while living and working on the road in an RV is perplexing, well okay, let's get real here, it's almost impossible. Somehow, I'm going to find the art spirit inside me again. As in the past, I found delight in the weekly challenges so that's where I'll start. I'm pushing paper around with The Word Challenge " BlackBird"... and having a ball. When I finally get past the huge pile of laundry that stands between me and my fun papers, I'll publish my take on "BlackBird". Hint, Hint... remember the lyrics to this Beatles song...
Blackbird singing in the dead of night,
Take your sunken eyes and learn to see,
All your life,
You've wanted to be free.
Paul McCartney.
